The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
