He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates as well. No one within the club might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is challenging. Impossible.”
