Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
