Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts
The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Football and Family Life
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer side," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be fairly tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.
My son told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.
Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.
But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
